Good Jobs that Can Support a Family
We all know how important good jobs with a living wages and good
benefits are important to the health of our communities. That is why SEIU Local
113 supports an increase to the federal minimum wage.
Most minimum wage earners are not 16-year-old grocery clerks. A majority are
women, single mothers, and people of color. An extra $2 an hour would buy these
families:
- More than a year
of groceries
- Over 9 months
of rent
- A year and a half
of heat and elctricity
- Full tuition
for a community college degree
